Steve Parish - Pro 2 - 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Date of birth: 18.07.65
Age: 44
Home town: London
Favourite circuit: Oulton Park

Carrera Cup record:

2009: contested final four races in pro-am2

Motorsport career to date:

Started racing in 2009 with Motorbase in order to get enough signatures to join the Carrera Cup. Raced in selected events through the early summer of 2009, including GT Cup to qualify for a National A licence.

2010 season:

"I wanted to get into racing and I got involved with David and that was my first mistake! We did some testing and got some instruction from Michael Caine and Steven Kane. That was an experience, but I like to think that they are mates now. They wanted someone slower than them in the team!

"Once I got my licence upgraded I did some GT Cup, which was really good at Oulton Park. That was a fantastic day. Then David said he thought I was ready for the Carrera Cup.

"There are serious people out there racing for the championship and you want to be safe and not get in anyone's way. It was very nerve-wracking at Rockingham, but I've got a bit of bottle that stood me in good stead round the banking. To win pro-am2 in the first race was fantastic and in the second race I was quite close to Glenn McMenamin.

"The plan for this year is to do a full season in pro-am2. I really wish I'd started racing earlier. I've known Paul Jackson (Ollie's dad) for 20 years and I was always interested in motor sport and I drove on track days. Ollie was a bit of an inspiration with him doing so well.

"The first day I went testing was fantastic. The atmosphere in the team was brilliant
It's a blokey sort of thing to do. A cold garage on a December morning; you and the boys, a tea urn and a fast car; it's great.

"I love the whole Carrera Cup set-up. The way Porsche organises everything is fantastic and you are part of a big event with big crowds and TV coverage."
