Well let's hope the last of the April showers for this year!
I was all ready to get a shot from the start of the last race when the heavens opened complete with a thunderstorm. I was thinking that it would destroy the picture I had lined-up, but when it happened I was really pleased with the shot I got!
A bit like my 'Porsches in the Mist' shot I got at Oulton Park a couple of years ago!
As for the weekend itself. Quite a pleasing event overall for me.. Except... But is it just me?
Rockingham! Most people seem to like going to Rockingham. Me? Well... I must admit, I am not too enthused with the place. As nice and modern as the facilities are. I find the place hard work. The Media centre for those who don't know, is on the second floor almost in the centre of the main grandstand. Fantastic views I hear you say.. well yes the views are great.. but when you need to visit the track or the pits, it is at least a 10 minute walk, up and down stairs which isn't fun when you have to carry all that photographic gear!
Then.. if you want to go on the grid! Two openings, one either end of the pit wall. I pity the mechanics that have to drag all their equipment onto the grid through that small opening!
Why do they still insist on keeping the oval as the primary circuit? Surely the majority of race events use the inner tracks?
I see that Damon Hill has visited the circuit before! Saw him around the paddock on Saturday, he had the biggest pair of binoculars I have seen for a long time. Definitely something the spectator would need when viewing from the grandstands!
Glad they finally turned that fire alarm off!
