After what seemed like a never-ending break.. Finally, the Boys are Back!
Brands Hatch on the whole was good for me. Back in the old routine, the buzz from the paddock. Meeting new drivers and teams, finding out that they are not so new at this game. Seeing a small band of drivers going between garages trying to pick up a last minute drive and others walking around explaining why they haven't made the grid!
Anyway, as for the events of the weekend. My Hero team from the weekend must be Team Aircool. Considering that their brand new SEAT Leon did not arrive in the country until late Wednesday, which gave them minimal time to get it ready for the weekend. Paul Ridgeway and the boys did a cracking job to get the car out. They only finished stickering the car at 2am Saturday morning. Adam will certainly be a driver to watch in 2008.
My Unlucky Team vote goes to BTC Racing. After showing so much improvement over the close season, Bert and the team were looking forward to the start of the championship with Chris showing tremendous speed in the car. But come raceday the two drivers Chris Stockton and Stuart Oliver only managed three laps between them. Down to an electrical fault. I'm sure the team will be back more determined at Rockingham.
Not showing bias here. My vote for the most promising driver from Brands Hatch goes to Steven Kane. His first serious drive in a touring car and he qualifies in 8th place, 3rd highest privateer. As many people have said, a driver to watch out for! Shame he has this funny accent!
The next round at the Rock is looming up, with the promise of more cars and drivers on the grid! As long as the racing is good, I will be happy.
