News 2010: Motorbase Makes History

The Motorbase Performance team is making history following the opening touring car race weekend of the 2010 season.
After a superb Easter weekend spent at the dauntingly fast Thruxton circuit in Hampshire (3/4 April), the Motorbase squad is leading the teams' championship in both the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup. No team has ever done that before!
The team's fabulous one-two result in the third and final BTCC race of the day has sent the Airwaves BMW squad to the top of the HiQ Team's Championship within the BTCC with an impressive 46 points. That puts the Motorbase crew ahead of teams like Triple 8, Team Dynamics and Ray Mallock Ltd, all of which operate teams under sponsor or manufacturer branding. The other BMW team in the BTCC, defending champions West Surrey Racing, currently lies at the foot of the table with just three points.
Meanwhile, in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Motorbase Performance also stands proudly at the top of the team championship thanks to the results of Michael Caine and Charlie Bateman. Motorbase heads Team Parker Racing by three points with Red Line Racing third. The other Motorbase squad, under the Addison Lee Motorbase banner, is fifth thanks to the results of Ollie Jackson and Liam Griffin.
So, after the opening weekend of BTCC action, Motorbase is proudly at the top of two of the biggest and most competitive championships in British motor sport. Everyone in the team will be pushing hard to try and retain that unique position when the action resumes at Rockingham over the weekend of 24/25 April.
