Croft next for Motorbase BTCC challenge
Motorbase Performance will head north to the technically challenging Croft circuit in North Yorkshire for the next three races in the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car over the weekend of 31 May/1 June.
As the BTCC season reaches the halfway point and races 13, 14 and 15 of the 30-race schedule, Steven Kane and Rob Collard will go to Croft determined to get the team's pair of BMW 320s into the top 10 of the incredibly hard-fought BTCC.
It has been a tough few weeks for the Motorbase team, with five race weekends in the space of just nine weeks across the opening half of the season. That has left no time for test and development work, but the good news is that after Croft comes a six-week mid-season break. Team boss David Bartrum intends to make good use of that break to do some proper testing ahead of the start of the second half of the season at Snetterton on 12/13 July.
However, the potential of the cars has been clear right from the start of the season when Kane battled in the top six at Brands Hatch. Last season at Croft Steven was on the podium in both Porsche Carrera Cup GB races, and is keen to repeat that form. Collard, meanwhile, has shown all the hard-charging determination that has made him a favourite with the BTCC fans, and is eager to convert that into strong results over the second half of the season.
Bartrum was pleased to come through the most recent Thruxton weekend with a 100% finishing record and without any damage to the cars. "We are still only four races old with this project," he said at the end of race day at Thruxton. "Croft and Snetterton – the tracks that are coming up next – should suit us better. We want to be in the top 10 at Croft and I believe that is a realistic target."
Once again, extensive live coverage of all the race action will be shown on ITV4. The first of Sunday's three races starts at 12noon, while live coverage of the afternoon's action will run from 12.30pm to 5.30pm on ITV4.
