News 2010: Jackson Stars in Carrera Cup at Rockingham

Two wins, two poles and two fastest laps in the pro-am1 category as well as the 'driver of the weekend' award from Porsche was the amazing tally for Ollie Jackson during rounds three and four of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Rockingham over the weekend (24/25 April).

Jackson started the weekend in strong form and never looked back as he battled with some of the pro category drivers. But ultimately, the pro-am1 title is his first target and two nicely measured races took his 2010 tally to three pro-am1 wins from four races this season and a 13-point championship lead over Tony Gilham. Ollie now lies fifth in the overall driver standings.

"It's been a fantastic weekend," said Ollie, who celebrated his 26th birthday on the Monday after Rockingham. "Qualifying was excellent. I lost a couple of places in the races but I'm still happy with the overall performance. I just need to be a bit more careful with my race craft next time."

Ollie was the star of qualifying when he qualified third and then fourth overall for the two races, only headed in the first grid by championship stars Tim Harvey and Michael Caine. In the first race, Ollie slipped behind pro racer Euan Hankey to take fourth and then in the second race he took fifth overall. Importantly, in both races he won the pro-am1 category and set fastest lap.

"I'm really happy with the way things have gone so far," said Ollie. "The first weekend of the season at Thruxton was a particular challenge for me, but I tend to get on well with Rockingham. But to do as well as I did at the weekend is unbelievable. The car that the team gave me was exceptionally good and it is doing exactly what we want it to do."

Now come rounds five and six of the championship at Brands Hatch this weekend (1/2 May) and Jackson goes to the challenging Kent track with his confidence high. "I'm really looking forward to racing on the Brands GP circuit this weekend."
