Michael Caine - 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Michael Caine Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2011

Home Town: Newmarket

Car Number: 2

Porsche Carrera Cup Category: Pro

Sponsors: Mara consulting and Design, Mclaren Group, Wellington Spinal Unit, Medicrea, Marshcroft Energy, Goldfynch, The Ant Group, Sustain Services, Lti, Datatag, AB Bookmakers, Airwaves, Teng Tools, Auto Glym

Favourite PCC circuit and why: Oulton Park. It's a real challenge for the team to get a good set up and for the driver to get the best out of the car. Also I love the way I have always been on pole and never managed to win a Porsche Carrera Cup race at Oulton; I've been knocked off, pushed off and also fallen off all leading races. Maybe 2011 will be our year!

Carrera Cup Record:
2010: Finished in second place overall
2009: Finished in fourth place overall
2008: Finished in second place overall
2007: Finished in fourth place overall
2006: Finished in sixth place overall

Most memorable racing moment: My first ever race behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Scirroco in 1994 and the 2004 Le Mans 24 Hours, driving for TVR factory team.

Michael previously raced in British GT and at Le Mans before joining the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2006. After narrowly missing out on the title last season, he is determined to finally add the Porsche Carrera Cup title to his achievements and renew his rivalry with reigning champion, and new Motorbase teammate, Tim Harvey.

"I've got to win it this year. It's the only championship I've entered which I haven't won and it something that needs to be sorted out. It would be nice to say at the end of my career I won championships in everything I competed in."

"I don't see there being any rivalry between myself and Tim (Harvey) as long as he follows me round I won't have a problem with it. We want to win the team's championship, which means we can't take each other out but at the end of the day you have to beat everybody to win a title. I see Tim as one of my main rival along with James Sutton but the most important thing for Motorbase is we have a good year."
