Tim Harvey is one of the most successful and widely known British drivers of the last 20 years. Synonymous with the British Touring Car Championship in which Tim competed between 1987 and 2002, he continues to be closely involved in the championship as the voice of the ITV commentary team alongside Vicky Butler-Henderson, and as a driver coach to many of the young drivers. During his time as a driver Tim notched up 16 overall wins and was the champion in 1992 driving for BMW. He also enjoyed stints as a factory driver for Austin Rover, Ford, Renault, Volvo and Peugeot.
Tim has also been a prolific winner in sports cars. Twice British Sports Car Champion in 1989 and 1990 he has also contested Le Mans 4 times, winning his class in 1987. He is a double winner of the Oulton Park Gold Cup in 2000 and 2001 joining previous winners Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and many others. Recently Tim has made sporadic albeit successful outings in the British GT championship, winning alongside various drivers in 2004/5.
A distinguished career in international motorsport has given Tim a deep seated knowledge of the business and substantial reserves of experience. A factory driver for Spice in the halcyon days of the World Sports car Championship saw Tim battling the Jaguars and Mercedes Benz during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. Tim has also been a Touring car winner internationally, winning the Macau Grand Prix street race in 1989 and the Wellington International in 1994. He has successfully raced in Japan, Australia, South Africa and all over Europe.
More recently Tim has raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup. A one-off guest drive at the end of the 2003 season saw Tim win at Donington, beating the established stars. This led to a full campaign in 2004 during which Tim won 8 races, had 4 pole positions and set 5 lap records. He led the championship until the last race of the year when he was denied the title after 2 controversial incidents. Despite being highly competitive again in 2005, several mechanical problems once again hampered his championship prospects. Eager to clinch the championship in 2006, Tim is itching to start testing in the new model 997 Carrera Cup car.
Aside from his racing, Tim combines his commentary and presenting work for ITV and Motors TV with various other motorsport roles. An acknowledged driver coach, Tim enjoys furthering the careers of both young and established stars. From current Touring Car Champion Matt Neal to rising stars such as Rob Huff, Tim is able to share his extensive driver and management experience. Tim is also motorsport consultant to Formula Woman, the first racing series purely for women and now in its 3 rd year.
A regular after dinner speaker, Tim is comfortable in a corporate atmosphere whether presenting or mingling with guests and sharing his motorsport experiences.
