Rugby League Star Kicks up a Gear at Oulton Park

Jon Wilkin, the St Helens and England back row forward, was able to enjoy the glitz and glamour of the British Touring Car Championship today (31st May) as a guest of the Airwaves BMW team.

Jon, fresh from St Helens' victory over Gateshead in the quarter final of the Carnegie Challenge Cup, spent the day with the team in the sun as temperatures soared at the Cheshire circuit.

He enjoyed VIP hospitality and met Airwaves Pro's Jonny Adam and Rob Collard, and was able to watch as Jonny secured a podium finish in race one coming home in third place.

Jon said, "It's fantastic to be invited here to watch the British Touring Cars with such a professional team.  Playing rugby league with St Helens I understand the importance of teamwork and it is really impressive how everyone at Airwaves BMW works so well together to ensure the best result.

"Huge congratulations to Jonny on a superb race in his Airwaves BMW in the first race.  From talking to him I know he is going to kick it up a gear for the rest of the season and I'm sure it won’t be the last time we see him or Rob on the podium in the Championship."
