Airwaves BMW use Horsepower for CharitySafety marshals working at the HiQ MSA Touring Car Championship have received a £200 cash boost thanks to Airwaves BMW.

The Kent-based team held a charity sweepstake on the Grand National in order to raise the donation, with everyone from team boss David Bartrum to star drivers Jonny Adam and Rob Collard chipping in.  Other leading figures in the paddock also did their bit, including championship chief Alan Gow and race commentator Ben Edwards.

The winner of the sweepstake was Peter Vinten of Trident Trailers in Kent, who's 100-1 selection Mon Mome triumphed at Aintree.  However, Mr Vinten kindly donated his £50 prize to the BARC marshals fund - meaning every penny raised went to help pay for safety equipment and training for race stewards.

John Hallett from Tunbridge Wells, a veteran marshal of 40 years, accepted the cheque for £200 on behalf of the BARC marshals from Airwaves BMW team principal David Bartrum at Brand Hatch today (Sunday) following race one of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.  He also received hundreds of packets of chewing gum for his fellow marshals to enjoy courtesy of team sponsor Airwaves.

Airwaves BMW Team Principal David Bartrum said:
"We are delighted to be able to provide some help for the dedicated marshals who play such a vital role in motorsport, and do an outstanding job of keeping all the competitors and spectators as safe as possible.  We are also very grateful to Peter Vinten of Trident Trailers for putting his winnings back into the pot for the marshals, which was a very generous gesture, and also everyone else in the BTCC paddock who contributed."
