Tom Ferrier has been confirmed as the new driver for Motorbase Performance in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. He will join the team for Donington Park this weekend (14/15 July) and, subject to funding, hopes to continue through the remaining races of 2007.
Ferrier will partner Matt Allison in the team's pair of SEAT Toledos for rounds 16, 17 and 18 this weekend. It will be his first BTCC outing since he raced with the team at the final event of 2006 at Silverstone. That weekend he claimed a seventh place as Motorbase made its BTCC debut.
"Tom was always one of our key choices for this season," says team boss David Bartrum. "He did a really good job for us at Silverstone last October, but as ever, it was all down to budget. I'm pleased to welcome him back into the team."
Ferrier (25), who has been working to secure a strong BTCC drive for some time, will go straight into free practice on Saturday morning at Donington. However, his experience of a range of touring cars should serve him well as he rejoins the BTCC.
