News 2006: Integra "A Beauty" Raves Pinkney After First Test
David Pinkney declared himself pleased with his first run in the Honda Integra he will use in the 2006 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after testing the car at Snetterton.
Pinkney will make his return to the series for the first time since 2001 in the ex-Team Halfords machine – which will be run by David Bartrum's Motorbase Performance squad during the coming season.
With just over a month to go the opening round of the season at Brands Hatch, Pinkney was clearly impressed with the car that Motorbase will campaign in its first season of BTCC competition.
"She's a beauty, she's lovely," Pinkney told btcc.net after taking to the track in Norfolk. "The car does exactly what you ask of it. It's so well sorted.
"The day was spent learning about the car, not going for times although even without pushing we managed a 1min 14.3secs lap time in the morning when the track was still a little bit damp. It's nothing special compared to the BTCC lap record but for a shakedown we were chuffed to bits with it.
"The only thing we didn't get quite right is my seating position – I still think the steering wheel is too close to me, but we'll adjust that at the next test."
Continuing with the tradition that has followed him throughout his career, Pinkney will also run with one of the more 'colourful' paint schemes on the grid.
